Okay yâall, letâs talk about biscuits that are swimmingâliterallyâin flavor. These Cheddar Bay Swim Biscuits are buttery, cheesy, garlicky, and so easy to make that they might just become your new go-to side for any meal. Think Red Lobster vibes, but even better because theyâre fresh out of your own oven.
Hereâs what you need to bring these beauties to life:
Ingredients
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour 1 tsp sugar (optional, but I like the balance) 1 tbsp baking powder 1 tsp salt (if youâre using unsalted butter) ½ tsp garlic powder ½ tsp onion powder 2 tbsp fresh parsley (or dried if thatâs what you have) 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (make sure itâs coldâit gives the biscuits that perfect texture) ½ cup buttermilk 4 tbsp butter

For the garlic butter topping:
3 tbsp butter Âź tsp garlic powder 1 tbsp fresh parsley (or dried parsley)
How to Make Them
Mix the dry ingredients. In a big mixing bowl, combine your flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and parsley. Toss in that cold cheddar cheeseâtrust me, that little tip makes all the difference. Add the buttermilk. Pour in your buttermilk and stir until everything comes together into a soft dough. Swim time! Melt your butter right in a 9×9 baking dish. Then plop that dough right in and spread it out evenly. This is where the âswimâ comes inâthe biscuits are baking in that buttery goodness. Cut and bake. Slice the dough into 9 squares before it goes in the oven. Bake at 400°F for about 30 minutes, until the top is golden and your kitchen smells like heaven. Finish with garlic butter. While the biscuits are baking, melt together your butter, garlic powder, and parsley. As soon as those biscuits come out of the oven, brush them with this garlic butter glaze. Oh my word⌠thatâs the moment.
Serve & Enjoy
These Cheddar Bay Swim Biscuits are best served warm, straight out of the pan with all that buttery goodness still sizzling. Pair them with soup, pasta, seafood, or honestly just eat one standing in the kitchen (no judgment, I did).
Once you try them, youâll see why I call these biscuits the ultimate comfort food upgrade. Soft, fluffy, cheesy in the middle, buttery and garlicky on the outsideâbasically everything you want in life wrapped into one square.
